Backing Out of Insurance

I have never owned a car but I needed to make a trip for business. I borrowed a car from a friend and had a mechanic give it a nice once over. Everything looked good and there was nothing that appeared to being wrong. In fact for a ten year old SUV it had held up pretty good. The only other obstacle I had was to get some temporary car insurance for the three weeks I was going to be gone.

I wasn't sure about which insurance company to use so I opened up my phone book and called the number with the biggest ad. I tried a Google search at first, but eight thousand pages later I just used a phone book. The lady on the other line was friendly and we discussed what kind of services I would need. We picked out a plan that had everything I wanted and we set up an appointment for me to sign papers early the next morning. I was planning on spending the night packing and getting all the little odds and ends in order. Than in the morning I was going to take my friend's car down to the insurance lady, sign my name, and be on my way to three weeks of corporate training.

This guy COULD have bought some really great short term car insurance in the UK. But he didn't. Then again, if he was short of money there was always no deposit car insurance.

The first part of my plan went swimmingly. Everything was packed and I was able to get plenty of sleep. The next morning I got up, went downstairs, got in my car and started to back down the driveway. I admit it was a little earlier than I was used to getting up at, but I do not believe it makes a proper excuse for running my friend's car into the parked automobile sitting directly in front of my house. It belonged to a neighbor's kid's friend's parent who happened to be an officer of the law. He was not pleased that an uninsured driving had just smashed into his son's car. Luckily though he was on duty and appeared promptly onto the scene of the crime. I explained I was on my way to sign my insurance papers, but apparently that is no less illegal. He suggested I sign up online next time.

I ended up having to fix my friends car, pay some exorbitant fees, and purchase the plane ticket I had been trying to avoid. I made it to my first seminar for “Quality productivity in diverse work environments for the new millennium”, or QPIDWEFTNM for the sake of simplicity. It went exactly how you think it would. After I returned home is when I sorted out those previous affairs. I still don't have a car, never got insurance, but I did end up marrying that nice insurance lady.
